Slot Correction by Three-Hair-Bearing Flap Transposition Procedure in Combination with Scalp Reduction
Kim Jeong-Bae

Abstract
A common side effect of scalp reduction is the creation of a ¡®slot¡¯ with hair growing in opposite directions from the scar. Overcoming the unnatural appearance of the slot has been a vexing problem in scalp reduction surgery. None of the conventional corrective surgical techniques provide completely satisfactory aesthetic results. The Frechet flap is a triple transposition flap used for the correction of the slot defect secondary to scalp reduction surgery and there is seldom a need for further scar revision. The Frechet technique provides a solution to the problem of concealment of the central slot that is unattainable by other means such as Z-plasties and minigrafting. Authors applied the Frechet technique to Korean undergoing scalp reduction and have operated on 4 patients from 2000 March to 2001 January. The results are aesthetically satisfactory and there has been no significant complication.
